Nemeth Law partner Deborah Brouwer named to DBusiness 2022 Top Lawyers list in labor and employment law
Detroit-based management-side labor and employment law firm Nemeth Law, P.C., is pleased to announce that Deborah Brouwer, co-managing partner of the firm, has been named to DBusiness’ 2022 Top Lawyers list. DBusiness magazine’s annual peer review survey polled thousands of certified attorneys in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties, honoring the top vote-getters in 53 legal practice areas. Brouwer was named a Top Lawyer in the labor and employment law category.
Brouwer’s labor and employment practice includes the defense of lawsuits against employers involving claims of race, age, religion, national origin, gender and disability discrimination, and harassment and retaliation, as well as FLSA, FMLA and non-competition suits. She also provides employer training and conducts discrimination and harassment investigations on behalf of employers. Brouwer has extensive experience appearing before administrative agencies, including the EEOC, MDCR, MIOSHA, OSHA and the NLRB, and also appears frequently before the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Brouwer has received numerous accolades in the legal field, including previous DBusiness Top Lawyer honors, multiple Michigan Super Lawyer listings, Best Lawyers® in America for 2021 and 2022, and selection as a Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women in Law honoree in 2019. She was recognized as a 2020 ‘Go-To Lawyer’ in Business Law and also named to the 2018 class of ‘Women in the Law’, both by the legal trade publication, Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
Brouwer is also the president of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC) board of directors for 2021-2022, having served as the organization’s board vice president and treasurer in prior terms of office. MDTC is an association of the leading lawyers in the State of Michigan dedicated to defending individuals and corporations in civil litigation. She recently was named as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society.
Brouwer is a Member, State Bar of Michigan Appellate Section and Labor and Employment Law Section; Member, American Bar Association, Litigation Section; Member, DRI; Chair of the Board of Directors of Assured Family Services; and Chair, Board of Trustees, Luella Hannan Memorial Foundation. She holds a Juris Doctor from the Wayne State University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree, both from the University of Michigan.
